I'm so glad you are here! I hope during your visit you get a glimpse of God's heart for we become what we are gazing at. I want to be a blessing to you so I've made these Resources available to you and have the Missional blog tab for practical ideas of how to live on mission right where you are. Currently I am writing my way through Judges sharing glimpses of God's heart and character for a weekday devotional. To check out the entire series so far head on over the the Judges Devotional. And have you had a chance to link up your blog posts and read the other great ones linked up for Faith Filled Friday? Then the five men departed and came to Laish and saw the people who were there, how they lived in security, after the manner of the Sidonians, quiet and unsuspecting, lacking nothing that is in the earth and possessing wealth, and how they were far from the Sidonians and had no dealings with anyone. And when they came to their brothers at Zorah and Eshtaol, their brothers said to them, "What do you report?" They said, "Arise, and let us go up against them, for we have seen the land, and behold, it is very good. And will you do nothing? Do not be slow to go, to enter in and possess the land. As soon as you go, you will come to an unsuspecting people. The land is spacious, for God has given it into your hands, a place where there is no lack of anything that is in the earth." Judges 18:7-10 All around us we see people doing evil things and getting away with it. What gives you hope when you see that? God had given land to the Danites but they didn't take it. They experienced a little bit of opposition and gave up (How often we do that too, and cover with "it must not be God's will"). But then they outgrow their measly land they settled for and are looking for the bigger and better. When we settle for less than what God has the shiny always wears off and leaves us yet to pursue another thing. When feeding the flesh it's helpful to know that it will never be satisfied. The Danites see some land that looks great, bigger and better. They talk to a prodigal priest for counsel, and get ready to attack fellow Israelites. They disobeyed, got dissatisfied, found satisfaction in what their brothers and sisters had so they killed them to get it. Sin is a downward spiral and it's wise to know that none of us are immune. And how quick everyone was to jump on board when they heard how easy it was going to be. Sin often is easier. Sin will always offer an easy button. But though that easy button may be easy now, the long term effects are only more pain. It's like compound interest, but backwards. Let's cling to Jesus so we don't end up pulling a Danite. And what about when you've been sinned against? Where does your hope come from? Our help and hope come from the Lord. He is the defender of the weak and oppressed. He is the Rescuer, Restorer, Redeemer and Rewarder. And He will one day step in and say, No More! But for now we can be comforted by God's word: For I was envious of the arrogant when I saw theprosperity of the wicked. For they have no pangs until death; their bodies are fat and sleek. They are not in trouble as others are; they are not stricken like the rest of mankind... Behold, these are the wicked; always at ease, they increase in riches... until I went into the sanctuary of God; then I discerned their end. Truly you set them in slippery places; you make them fall to ruin. How they are destroyed in a moment, swept away utterly by terrors! Like a dream when one awakes, O Lord, when you rouse yourself, you despise them as phantoms. When my soul was embittered, when I was pricked in heart, I was brutish and ignorant; I was like a beast toward you. Nevertheless, I am continually with you; you hold my right hand. You guide me with your counsel, and afterward you will receive me to glory. Whom have I in heaven but you? And there is nothing on earth that I desire besides you. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. For behold, those who are far from you shall perish; you put an end to everyone who is unfaithful to you. But for me it is good to be near God; I have made the Lord GOD my refuge, that I may tell of all your works. Psalm 73 Want to check out my most recent post? It can be so easy to take our eyes off of Jesus and see what others have or what they get, and they aren't Christians. It would be easy to say "This isn't fair, I'm following God and living the way I should, so why am I not getting the blessings" But God knows there is more to life than things, I'm so thankful for that. I have real hope not just for this life but for what comes after it too. Material things only satisfy for so long, but full satisfaction comes only from God.

Very timely post for me today. My husband I are in a very lonely place in ministry right now and are trying to figure out what God wants us to do without settling for what seems easy. Thank you.
