Over the last month, I've set out to be a better prayer. Two things helped me grow the most: Before Amen By Max Lucado and War Room (a super awesome Christian Movie). Lyli wrote an awesome post about scriputres to post on your war room wall...and that got me thinking. Where do I spend the most of my time doing nothing for God's kingdom? Not really praying or talking to people or sharing the Gospel----my car. So I brainstormed ideas and then put them to work. I never thought I could experience God's presence so much by sitting in the driver's seat. 1. Ask God To Reach Your Sphere Of Influence We all have people in our lives that we love so much, but they don't know any love the Lord. If you're anything like me, remembering to pray for them specifically on a day to day basis can be very hard. Write their names on the top of your windshield and pray for them every time you see them. 2. Pictures Are Worth A Thousand Words Place a picture of something special to you on your dashboard. Then, pray for that person, place, or thing every time you look down and notice the picture. As you can see, I placed a picture of my Compassion International Child on my dashboard--and I pray for Muvita daily because of it. Don't sponsor a child or want to know more info? Click here. 3. Use Technology If you have a smart phone...did you know you can set it to remind you things at location? (Instructions Here) Set your phone to remind you to pray for an opportunity to share the Gospel every time you arrive at your local grocery store, bank or post office. 4. Sing To Him I love worship music. But, I've noticed that if I don't get my heart in the right condition and actively sing to God--it's no different than me singing out loud to a Carrie Underwood song. Never experienced Christian music in the car? Check to see if KLove is in your area or browse the Christian Playlists on Spotify. 5. Get Him On The Throne Nothing changed my life more than learning what the Spirit Filled Life actually is. Draw a picture of Him on the throne on your side or rear view mirror. Then, as you see it, be sure to make sure your heart condition is in the correct place for God to work through you! 6. Remind Yourself Of God's Character Head over to our free-printable for subscribers. Print and cut the Who Is God cards and clip them to your visior. Use them as memory verse cards or use them to pray more specially for the unreached. Instead of "God please let Mackenzie know you" you say "Lord, please reveal your character to Mackenzie... let her see that you are the best protector she could ever need." I've only been at this for a little under a month. Do you have ways that you make your time in the car effective in your relationship with God? I'd love to hear them...and probably steal them!

Jacque -- I love your practical steps and I loves that you turned your car into a war room - especially since so many people spend a lot of time in their cars commuting. Thanks for linking up at #TestimonyTuesday

Esther! Thanks for sharing. For the longest time, I felt awkward praying on the phone. (Like somehow the prayer was going to get lost in translation). HA! Definitely not true but something that I had to fight through. Cherish your relationship with your kiddo.

I say my rosary for my family on the way to work and on the way home I say my rosary again for the souls in purgatory and world peace. I have an audio app of the rosary from Bible Now on my phone that I listen to and pray along.

Youversion.com has Bibles available with audio so you can listen to Scripture in the car. You can post Scripture on your visor to read as you enter and leave the car...great way to memorize easily. There are also sermons on line there. Praying for the Lord to guide you at each stop is a wonderful thing😃I love your article.

I have Natural Life prayer boxes with fill in the blank scriptures to pray for my kids when I'm waiting in the car & they also come with a notepad to jot prayers down. I have also printed off & laminated many prayer printables from Pinterest.

Nice idea. I just wish people would stop using Him in English to refer to God. God isn't gendered, and has several names in the Bible. Calling God 'Him' reduces 'The Lord' to a gendered human level

Susanna, I refer to my Heavenly Father as God because while Jesus walked the earth he referred to him as FATHER. Father is not gender neutral. U

I do that too! (And I would bet that God loves it when we sing to Him). Funny enough, I was listening to a Kelly Clarkson song the other day and just singing it to God. Then I realized it was a love song.. HA! I think God appreciated it just the same! ...oops! :)

I like the idea, but this really isn't safe! Writing on your windshield and mirrors blocks part of your view. Focusing on prayer, pictures or writing takes your focus off the road. Driving should demand your entire attention (and yes, I know how hard that is. I have 6 children.) We should be aiming to pray continually and keep our focus on Christ, but don't do it in a way that puts you and others at risk. My first accident was a direct result of using my commute as prayer time.

I am in my car right reading this post. Not driving just having some quiet time. For years I have kept a notebook with scriptures to repeat in the car when I am waiting. Now I put verses on note cards and sing along with worship songs in my car. When I can't sleep I come out here and look up at the stars.

I live in a dorm-type setup, with a roommate and very little space so this idea is amazing!! Thank you so much for the ideas! I usually just use my car as a time to pray out loud, since I live surrounded by alot of people but making it an intentional prayer place for when I'm sitting at a light or when I just need a place to be alone is an awesome idea.

I retired almost 2 years ago. It was hard to go from full time busy, to almost full time bored. The amazing thing is that Abba has placed several women that I hadn't known, or hadn't known well that are not living near me, in my life. I text encouragement, prayers, and sometime pictures. A war room can be anywhere that God places us, what a privelege to have contact with a loving God leading in the battle against evil and darkness. I love your idea of using your car for a war room. I'll use it on trips!! Blessings!

Love the ideas - however, you might want to double check that it's all legal. If you get pulled over and the cop sees writing on your windshield, even though it's not in the center or anything, you might get in trouble. If it's legal where you live, though, more power to you!

Hi, Michelle. I'm by no means a lawyer or public authority. Use your own decisions and judgement for what you deem to be safe. My reasoning was that it's in the same place the people put the oil change sticker? But you're right! Always check your local laws.

I love this! I am also now on this incredible journey with God where I am trying to be conscious of how I spend my time and what lazy or idle times I can use to talk to God. The car is the perfect answer since I spend an hour in traffic everyday. I've started using that time to listen to music that brings me closer to my Lord and saviour. Music that allows me to open up and see his great works of love, mercy and grace in our lives. Absolutely love the ideas. Thank you for the read. :)

Great article! I also use my car for a war room. (And I love, love, love the War Room movie). During my commute to and from work I pray, listen to Christian music (often singing along with it and turned way up loud to drown out the enemy!). I have a special scripture taped beside my gear shift so I will see it when I get in and out of the car. During my lunch break at work, I go to my car and spend that time praying or reading my devotional book, that I always keep in the car. This has really amped up my prayer life and has made me grow spiritually and definitely trust Him more. Thank you for your article!

I have travelled 1 hour each way to work 3 times a week for 25 years. That is 24 hours per month. 7200-ish hours to date! I downloaded an app for through the bible in a year with Daily Audio Bible in March. I am closer than ever to getting through the bible and am so happy! I have also listened to back recordings to get caught up. An amazing venue.

I just recently started doing this when covid hit us, I am a healthcare worker - the safest to Eat my lunch is inside my car, that gave me the opportunity to spend time with God, watch YouTube preachings and pray for the nursing facilities and hospitals in my area. I am very grateful to have this wonderful idea.
