So what's the big deal about faith?

So, the same time that we rejoined Master Plan Ministries, the ministry was offered a 5 building ranch at cost, also at the same time we were wanting to pursue doing week long adventure ministry training camps. In order to buy the ranch and bring it up to code we needed to raise One Million dollars in the span of 2 ½ months.

            4 months earlier Austin’s close friend who is on staff with MP too had a huge desire to raise a million dollars. Weird desire. Anyway, him and the President took time off campus to raise $. It was such an honor to work with a team that was so willing to trust God with the impossible and everyone was so confident He could do it.

            In the past, I have prayed big things… specific things and got to see God answer. And the more you trust the more you trust. So, when God would answer, I would pray bigger. Things like a bass guitar. I prayed that God would give one to me… and a guy did, and an amp. And all the furniture in our house. And a bagillion other things. One time I thought this church could use a bus. So I prayed and prayed that God would give them a bus. Not a few months later, someone donated a bus to them. Then bigger, my dad gave his life to Christ after 15 years of praying for him. And God miraculously gave us not one little boy but two.

            Well, when I have taken spiritual gift tests faith and teaching are always at the top. And I kinda always thought, yeah, teaching I can see is worth it. But what the heck is faith for? Who does that benefit but me and my feelings-making it easier for me to trust Him. I thought “seriously God, how in the world does that glorify You?”

            Well, God is so great in revealing truth… even if it is years after our weird thoughts. Well, it looks like a million dollars is for real going to be raised. And I am so moved and inspired. When the impossible happens and others get to see God do it… they see Him. They see His heart and character. He is glorified!! Wow! So, I want to pray bigger than I can imagine to pray (which would take God telling/showing me what to pray for) so that when He answers God’s greatness is seen!

            And now I am so grateful that God has entrusted me with this gift… because the passion of my heart is to make Him known and by praying big things, His character is seen and known. What a great God!!
