There was a statistic taken that listed the three things people at the age of 99 wish they had done more of in their life. I desire to learn from the mistakes and success of others, starting where left of, so when I hear things like this, my ears perk up. What do you think the majority said? They wish they had more money? Worked longer? No, they said they wish they would have reflected more, risked more and did more that outlived them.
In light of this I am starting Reflection SONdays. It can be so easy to let life slip by without taking a time to reflect on where its going and what God has done. Austin shoveled our neighbors sidewalk and our neighbor, V. came over to say thank you. I had never actually met these neighbors before, just knew a few things about them. I knew they were a gay couple in their 50's. When V. came over, he began to open up about his past of being abused, having his dad die when he was 13, and contracting aids. He went on to tell Austin that his partner had been thinking about death a lot since his stroke a few weeks ago. And V. told Austin he'd been meeting with Jehovah's witnesses because he's been wondering if he was in the right religion. I had no idea that the people right next door were open to the gospel. I cant wait to see how God provides us with an opportunity to share with him! What about you? As you think about your last week, how have you seen God show up and show His heart/character?
