Technology is Not About Me
Recently we had our computer stolen that had all our family and ministry pictures on it as well as 80% of my ministry resources. I also recently lost my jump drive that had 99% of my ministry resources on it. My phone wont turn on. My blog is broken (which is why there is no picture, no link up and no title. Sorry!!) And the tablet (as a computer replacement for my other computer that died) I bought hoping to reimburse it is not going to be able to be reimbursed like I thought and is not doing the things I need it to do. Let's just say I am irritated with technology. So, today I thought it would be spiritually and mentally healthy to remind myself that technology is not about me. Computers, websites and phones are ultimately NOT for my convenience, comfort, ease of life or even effectiveness. (Though that normally is a blessing of them) How quick I have forgetten this truth and have been functioning as though it were all about me and the things I need to get done. Evidenced by my frusteration when things arn't going my way. Oh Lord, thank you for the in my face reminder that technology really is all about YOU. That it exists to bring You honor and to make You known. Please help me re-orient my thoughts around this truth that when something isn't working I wouldn't get frusterated because my rights (or percieved rights) were jostled, but would be quick to trust Your sovereignty. Oh Lord, thank you for the reminder that even the details are really all about You! I am sorry I can not put up the link up. I hope to have it up again tomorrow. Feel free to link today's post up tomorrow. I hope your Not About Me November Challenge is blessing and encouraging you as it is me.

So sorry about your photos and resources most of all! In pre-digital days I had all of my Christmas photos and negatives taken in a robbery, so I feel your pain a bit. We just started using a service that backs up all of our computer files each day. It's inexpensive--called Back Blaze. My prayers are with you. Gail

Oooo, that is a tough, trying one! The kind of thing most likely to throw me off kilter. Major Frustration, and of something good, intended for His glory.

I am so sorry, Laura, this has happened to you. We have all become so dependant upon technology, but as you so beautifully prayed, it's all about Him. Thank you for this reminder, it's something I needed. May our Lord bless you for you humble spirit. Blessings, [email protected]

God is in control, but sometimes he gets our attention by letting things seem to spin out of control. I know he'll bless you because you've given technology over to him. My circumstances with time were similar to yours about technology. But, I've found that this theme "Not about me November" is affecting my entire perspective this month -- so thank you for starting the ball rolling. It'll be fun to see where it leads. Blessings, Alyssa
