I'm so glad you are here! I hope during your visit you get a glimpse of God's heart for we become what we are gazing at. I pray that God refreshes you and gives you readiness to persevere in what He has for you today. My desire is to be a blessing to you in helping you know God more and make Him known so I've made these Resources available to you and have the Missional Living blog tab for practical ideas of how to live on mission right where you are. If you are blogger come link up on Friday's for Brag on God Friday. "But Lord, " Gideon asked, "how can I save Israel? My clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my family." The LORD answered, "I will be with you, and you will strike down all the Midianites together." Judges 6:15-16 But how? Isn't that our response too? Gideon says, I'm not enough. Have you ever thought or felt that? How easy it is to overlook reality just like Gideon. Did you know that his family was very prominent in the community? Yup, in fact later in the chapter his dad is so well respected that the entire community is talked out of their anger. And for goodness sake, they had servants, lots of them. A few verses from now when Gideon goes to tear down the altar built to a false god, he takes 10 of their servants. Yet he says, "My clan is the weakest." I seriously think, 'Really Gideon, really?' Yet, living in the US and owning a home and computer puts us in the top 5% of the world materially and how easy is it to say, I just can't afford to support this or that. And you know what I just love. That Jesus doesn't sooth his ego, "Oh Gideon, you come from a well respected, prominant tribe. Your family is not the weakest and you are not the least..."He doesn't tell Gideon how awesome and great and wonderful he (Gideon) is, but tells him how great He (Jesus) is! "I will be with you" He makes it clear that it's not about what he (or us) had or didn't have. It's not about who he (or us) was or where he came from. It's about Jesus. And the I will be with you's of scripture... Oh these are just incredible and show us so much about the Lord. But there's no time for it now. But... I did write about it in the Bible study I wrote, why not get a copy over at amazon? (A bit pricey but I didn't have a say in that, except that 100% of my proceeds go to rescuing and restoring girls from the sex trade- so in reality, totally worth it!) If you haven't already, Subscribe to receive a FREE copy of the Life Purpose Plan; discovering how your uniqueness, current reality and the mission fit together for the glory of God. Dear Laura, Excellent post! We are all so blessed by God's grace, yet we so often make excuses for why we can't do what His Word commands us to. And the bottom line is that His strength is made perfect in our weakness! If He called us to it, He will see us through it, no matter what our perceived weakness or insufficiency.
