My friend Kate Hurley put the story of the starfish in the sand to music. (She just came out with a new cd and is doing a free music giveaway at www.katehurleymusic.com) The starfish in the sand is a story of a little girl coming across a ton of starfish dying on the shore. She begins to pick them up one by one throwing them back into the water. Someone tells her she will never be able to save them all and the little girl replies "it matters to this one." This is what ran through my head at the Britt Nicole concert last night.
Austin took me on a date to the concert where we joined hundreds of junior high girls (since the concert followed a conference for them). What a guy huh. :) Well, Britt is one of my favorite artists and it was great to get to see/hear her sing. But what I thought was going to be a nice date ened up being a time of seeing God reveal Himself more. Toward the end of the concert Britt started talking about walking through fear and bringing whats hidden into the light. She was challenging the girls to tell someone the things they have never told anyone. As she was about to start singing she stopped and bent down and started praying with a girl. This happened a few different times and the Lord kept bringing verses to my head about it. At first I was brought to tears thinking about how the Lord gets peoples attention. When she bent over it caused the crowd to lean forward and even step forward. When God does something out of the ordinary it causes people to notice and then we have the choice on how to respond. Then the verses "let the little children come to me for thiers is the kingdom of heaven" and the verse about leaving the 99 to rescue 1 came to my mind. Pretty cool that I got to see God's character displayed at a concert. And if Britt were more concerned with herself wondering what people thought of her, she wouldnt have been able to see the needs of the girls right in front of her and the rest of the audience wouldnt have been able to see God's heart displayed through her. I must say it was a pretty good date night. :)
