I'm so glad you are here! I hope during your visit you get a glimpse of God's heart for we become what we are gazing at. I pray that God refreshes you and gives you readiness to persevere in what He has for you today. My desire is to be a blessing to you in helping you know God more and make Him known so I've made these Resources available to you and have the Missional Living blog tab for practical ideas of how to live on mission right where you are. And currently I am writing my way through Judges sharing glimpses of God's heart and character for a weekday devotional. To check out the entire series so far head on over the the Judges Devotional. And if you are a blogger, come on over on Friday's for a blog hop. "Samson went down to Timnah together with his father and mother. As they approached the vineyards of Timnah, suddenly a young lion came roaring toward him. The Spirit of the LORD came upon him in power so that he tore the lion apart with his bare hands as he might have torn a young goat. But he told neither his father nor his mother what he had done. Then he went down and talked with the woman, and he liked her. Judges 14:5-7 I find it strange that Samson, mama and papa are all going to Timnah together yet mama and papa don't know a lion tried to attack their son. They must have been seperated. Perhaps going to the bathroom or something? Who knows. But wouldn't that be kinda loud? I've never actually come in contact with a lion face to face or saw them attack someone so I am not sure how loud it would be. :) But I am reminded that Satan is a lion wanting to devour, and just like this lion sought out Samson, Satan is seeking opportunity to attack each one of us. Sobering. But God... His grace is sufficient in the face of Satan attacks. Though we may be unaware sometimes what is happening in our kids hearts and lives, God is not and He will provide for them what they need when they need it. This is so comforting it almost brings me to tears. I've written about my fears of the boys having believing lies I am unaware of. (Helpful post in showing you what not to say to adoptive parents) But don't you wonder, how in the world could Samson's parents not have known!? But really things happen right under our noses all the time without us knowing. The control part of me really doesn't like that. Austin and I hear horrific stories all the time from students and their parents have no idea of what has happened to them. That is terrifying. But I can take comfort in the fact that God is there. The One who can actually do something about it, heal, rescue, restore, bring truth, comfort, freedom and life. HE is there. HE knows. Ok, then as if that wasn't weird enough, it gets really weird! Samson kills the lion with his hands. Picture that. Disgusting. I actually have no idea how you destroy a lion with your bare hands but I imagine it's bloody. So there Samson is all bloody, then he goes to talk to the girl he likes. I'm sure she fell head over heels. Poor girl. Wouldn't you just love to see this played out in real life? I would! How in the world did she respond to bloody charming? Well, through God's powerful Word I am again driven to my knees to pray for my kiddos. I have a prayer journal for each of my kids that helps me spend a chunk of time praying for them on a regular basis. I rotate the journals and write one entry a day praying for them. And when they get older I will give it to them. What a precious journal for your kids (& for you)! I love the idea of rotating them, as I get overwhelmed thinking of finding time to write in a journal for each of my kids each day! :)

Samson is such a crazy man, isn't he? To me it is sad how in these verses it says, "The Spirit of the Lord came upon Him..." Yet, he chose to live such a fleshy, willful life, that we have no idea what He really could have done for God had he lived a yielded life. This is a great reminder for me as I head out on a Monday morning. Living for the flesh robs me of God's power in my life.... Thanks for sharing! I was blessed. :)

What a good idea a separate prayer journal for each child (or grandchild, or ...) and making just one entry each day. I think I'm going to copy this, and leave blank spaces/pages to record later what God does. Thanks for this!
