What do you see?In Radical Together, David Platt said he prays that God would give him a ministry disproportionate to his ability so it would be obvious that God was the author. Pretty cool! So I was praying that for our ministry and thinking about it for the last few weeks. Then it hit me... our little ministry IS disproportionate to what we are capable of. We are actually called to something impossible. What we do, investing our lives in college students (and of course our kiddos-since they are our first ministry but not our only) and hope to see them come to know Christ, walk with Him and live radically abandoned for His mission is not something we can do. We can't draw them, make them understand, bring understanding, change their minds, send them to the harvest... Dose of Reality... John 14:26 "But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you." If someone learns something true... anything true... it's the Holy Spirit who taught them, not me. How beautiful! When was the last time you learned something? Saw someone learn something? You came face to face with God working in your life and in that persons life! How encouraging is that! My kids... God was working in thier life today. That just gives me so much hope. John 16:8 "And He, when He comes, will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment" The Holy Spirit is the only One that can bring conviction. Apart from the Holy Spirit, our words of correction bring shame and condemnation. Oh how desperate we are for God to be the heart changer we can't be! And how intimate when the Holy Spirit does convict us... evidence that He knows us to the core. He is truly intimately acquainted with all our ways. Not only what we do before we even do it, but He knows why we do it, what lead to it and every detail, emotion and thoughts associated with it. Wow! I am known! You are known! A big deal since that is 1 of the 2 biggest needs of mankind. Acts 1:8 "you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth" Seeing students or my little 4 year old having desire or even just a willingness to tell people about Jesus. They didn't create that. God put it there. Wow! I get to see, experience the work of God's hands on a heart. Wow! Acts 9:31 " "So the church throughout all Judea and Galilee and Samaria enjoyed peace, being built up; and going on in the fear of the Lord and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit, it continued to increase" Have you had any sort of comfort in the last week? Well, true comfort only comes through the Holy Spirit. You were held by God. Your needs were a concern for Him that He pursued comforting you. What a great, good and mighty God! (I have found I am most comforted when God changes my perspective and helps me understand. It brings relief, which brings comfort.) Galatians 5:16, 22-23 "But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh, But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control..." Have you seen someone be faithful? Gentle? Joyful? Patient? Kind? Self-controlled? Have you been any of these? It's not because that person is so great, God did that! There He is again! Stickin out all over. Life is pretty stressful for Austin and I right now and Austin is evidencing patience and peace. I see God's heart. Asher and Uriah are growing in self-control. What a gift of God. These beautiful qualities don't come about by trying real hard. They are evidence of God, evidence of yieldedness to the Father. All things beautiful are from the Holy Spirit. Any beauty, any creativity any good thing... all gifts from the Father of Lights. Oh Lord, would You humble me. I get so arrogant thinking so much is from my own doing. Yet my very calling of making disciples and of training up my children in the way they should go... is impossible. How often I act like it is possible. How I strive apart from You. Oh Lord, I'm sorry. Have Your way in me, live Your life through me. Let me become more aware of You and not attribute it to other things. I love you. Question to ponder: What do you see? I am so grateful that the Holy Spirit is our Comforter. I have felt His comfort through trials and I am so grateful that He is always with me. I am also grateful that our power is through Him, and not through our own power. What a wonderful God we serve!

I am continually amazed how God provides...just the right thing at just the right time! I have see that even today as our car has been in the shop getting fixed. He has provided the means to get the car fixed and left us extra to help a family member out of a bind. God is good -- ALL THE TIME!
