Brag on God Friday

I'm so glad you are here! I hope during your visit you get a glimpse of God's heart for we become what we are gazing at. I pray that God refreshes you and gives you readiness to persevere in what He has for you today.

My desire is to be a blessing to you in helping you know God more and make Him known so I've made these Resources available to you and have the Missional Living blog tab for practical ideas of how to live on mission right where you are. And currently I am writing my way through Judges sharing glimpses of God's heart and character for a weekday devotional. To check out the entire series so far head on over the the Judges Devotional.

"So the woman ran quickly and told her husband, "Behold, the man who came the other day has appeared to me." Judges 13:10

Ok, I bet this was just so cute! I wish we knew how old Samson's mom was at this point, but since she couldn't have kids I bet she wasn't super young. So can you imagine this? Jesus shows up (that seems to keep happening in Judges) after Manoah prayed for him to come back (not knowing it was Jesus). He appears again to her and she excitedly runs off. I bet this brought a smile to his face.

This reminds me of two other similar situations:
1. Acts 12 tells about Peter being led out of prison by the angel. This is just awesome because it was on the Jewish holiday of unleavened bread when they remember how God brought them out of slavery and here God is giving them a living analogy by bringing Peter out of prison. Isn't God just amazing in His timing! So as Peter follows the angel to Mary's house late at night, they are up late praying for him and sweet little Rhoda answers the door. She is so shocked she slams the door in his face and runs off to tell everyone. I wonder if her and Samson's mama have ever compared running off stories and laughed about them in heaven?

2. In Genesis 18 it talks about a 99 year old man running to serve Jesus, again without knowing who He was. Sure seems like people do a whole lot of running around like crazy people when Jesus shows up.

Well, when we get to see the Lord answer prayer it causes a deep joy and excitement. So really what a gift that He lets us partner with Him in changing lives through prayer. So who knows, whatever the Lord has put on you're heart to pray about, you just might be in the anticipation zone just like Samson's mama and Rhoda. Just going about daily life, doing what you do and God is just about to answer. Who knows, so might as well enjoy the season of anticipating how God is going to show off.

Have you heard about the
Uniquely Made; Displaying the Glory of God
conference yet?

So want to come? Oh I hope you can, it is going to be such an inspiring weekend with an eternal impact.

And did you catch the price!?!  $40. Yup, just $40. Isn't that awesome!

And there is an opportunity to win a kindle fire over at UniquelyMadeConference. There are multiple chances to win and multiple ways to enter.

We are also working on setting up a webcast, so stay tuned if you can't fly on out.

Will you join us in glorifying God?

"Tell the nations about his glory. Tell all people about the wonderful things he has done." 1 Chron. 16:24

Each Friday, I love to give others and opportunity to ban together to show and tell how incredible God is. If you've written something that glorifies God (gives us a glimpse of His character-which could be a whole lot of things since everything good thing and every gift and ability is from Him) I would love to have you link it up below. (Just click the link and follow the prompts)

I just humbly ask that you please let your readers know by including a link at the bottom of your post (or somewhere on your side bar) or put my button code (found on my side bar or the Brag on God Friday Tab) so they can find these other great people glorifying God and we can continue to grow as a community. Thanks!

You are chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, people who belong to God. You were chosen to tell about the excellent qualities of God, who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light."2 Peter 2:9

Yes, it is strange that there were so many "unbelievers" in the Bible. You have mentioned a few who "wondered at the words spoken."
Then we too often wonder and doubt when we should be quick to believe God and His Word.

Thank you, Laura, for pointing out fresh insight to a familiar passage.

Yes, meeting Jesus, or seeing His hand working in our lives, is much cause for excitement!

May the Lord give you much to be excited about, today!

Thank you for the lovely food for thought. Indeed, God's timing is always perfect, even when we don't realize it. I read the sweetest post on this topic recently - which I linked to at Facebook - with another great reminder of this - www.facebook.com/SandwichINKforTheSandwichGeneration/posts/300939409959299 He's definitely been perfect in His timing to encourage me with your post and this one - I really needed that this week. :)

Thanks, too, for the sweet reminder to link up. Have a blessed Friday.

Wow, Laura, great post, and a confirmation for me right at the top: "we become what we are gazing at." The Lord laid it on my heart this morning to write a blogpost on "What are You Looking At?" and gave me some appropriate verses today in our Bible reading. Thanks, as always, for being a blessing! I'm off to write now!
Love in Him,
Laurie

Hi Laura,

This is the first time to link up...so many lovely posts...so excited to visit. I would also be interested in webcast as I don't think flying in to the conference (even though it is VERY reasonably priced) would be an option for me. Sounds like an awesome event. Thank you for hosting such a lovely link up.

I don't do a lot of running these days, but I can run in Spirit to do the Lords bidding. Loved your examples of running and also of doubt.

Yes, I have often giggled about the slamming of the door and other moments of surprise. I would probably do the same thing. In fact, I think that's what I did the first time my husband tried to kiss me! I suppose it was the same. I had been waiting for him all my life and I couldn't believe he was finally at my door, expressing his love! Ha. He just finished telling me he was going to marry me. I was holding the front door knob in my hand and when he leaned in, I gasped and shut the door with him on the outside! Ouch. Oh well, he tried again the next night with success. ;)

I never noticed that timing of the Acts 12 Peter incident. I love the many ways we can see God's hand in the timing. Thanks for an insightful and enjoyable post.
