“Bless the Lord, Oh my soul, and all that is within me, bless His holy name!” I love reading through Psalm 103 and 104! Like, seriously, you should sit down and read them right now! They are filled with reasons why our Lord is holy, mighty, righteous, and perfect, and ultimately shows why we, as Christians, are to “bless His holy name!” We have been reading through the Bible in a year and I have been really enjoying it. Reading through the first few books of the Bible definitely shows a side of God that amazes me… Here is our God – the Creator of the universe, the Miracle Worker who showed His power over and over to the children of Israel, and not only did he show those sides of himself, but he also showed his compassion and lovingkindness again and again Sometimes I can hardly believe how often His people turned their backs on him over and over, especially after seeing Him work in their lives in beyond amazing ways! But then I think back on my 27 years on this earth and I see that I have done the same. My God has showed his power to me in many ways… He has healed broken hearts, He has provided, He has “redeemed my life from a pit,” and He has made this beautiful earth for us all to live in, but I have still turned from Him, basically showing God I think I can do it on my own! And I think that’s one reason why I love reading through the Bible… because I see that our God loves us with a never-ending love and I’m SO thankful He forgives and loves and cares enough to help me grow even if that growth is sometimes through painful circumstances. I love the song 10,000 Reasons, written and sung by Matt Redman. Some of his lyrics really stick out to me and remind me of the awesome God that I am blessed to have a relationship with! Here are some of the lines… [Chorus] Bless the Lord, O my soul O my soul Worship His holy name Sing like never before O my soul I'll worship Your holy name (vs. 1) The sun comes up, it's a new day dawning It's time to sing Your song again Whatever may pass, and whatever lies before me Let me be singing when the evening comes (vs. 2) You're rich in love, and You're slow to anger Your name is great, and Your heart is kind For all Your goodness I will keep on singing Ten thousand reasons for my heart to find (vs. 3) And on that day when my strength is failing The end draws near and my time has come Still my soul will sing Your praise unending Ten thousand years and then forevermore. I love that this song just shows a glimpse of the reasons why we’ll keep on singing now and forevermore. God is “very great; covered with splendor and majesty” (Psalm 104:1), but are we “singing His song” each and every day as we live out the days God has given us? If not, let’s start today and share with those around you what God has done in your life and be praying that “Whatever may pass and whatever lies before me, Let me be singing when the evening comes!” About NatalieNatalie graduated with her Elementary Education degree in 2008 and now serves as a missionary to college students with Master Plan Ministries.
