Once upon a time not so long ago (ok, well I guess it was kind of a long time ago) there was a girl who had a deep down hidden desire to have a story of God showing off at the last minute.
I'm the girl and had heard stories of God providing money for things last minute and I wanted that kind of story. January 2000 I went to a discipleship training school where we would spend 2 months overseas and I was short $2,000. I did all I knew to do (and was not only short on money but short on wisdom too... I totally should have asked for someone to help me in support raising). It came time to go to the airport and it was decided that if the money didn't come in by the time they needed to get on the plane then I had to go home and pay them back for the plane ticket. But what do you know, God surprised me with $2,000 in 5 minutes and a story of Him showing off. And ya know God does show off all the time but sometimes the "little" things, oh you know like holding our atoms together and all don't seem so big and grandeur. But God takes us wee ones that are but dust and increases our faith when we ask. And you know what I found out? The more you trust God, the more you trust God. And you know what else I found out, not just intellectually but experientially? That God really does have more in store than we could imagine. Ten years later God would show off in two more dramatic ways. Let me just brag on God for a bit. We know God wanted us to move closer to the college campus we ministered on but we could just not afford it (except the not-so-safe area). Our incredible, Jesus loving realtor showed us a house that was $60,000 out of price range and my husband was all fo seeing it. I thought they were nuts. Why even look at something you can't have? The house had Scripture on the walls so we thought we'd write them a letter and give them an offer of all we could telling them we wanted to have Bible studies and prayer nights for students at our house and needed to be closer to campus (which was 5 minutes away). dramatic pause ;) They accepted the offer. They said God had told them 2 weeks earlier someone was going to come put an offer on the house and not to worry about it and to take the offer. The week of closing they stood up in their church to give a testimony of how God had provided us to buy the house. They had a prayer meeting in the house for 21 years (ok, hang on. Just to know how crazy this is... Colorado is the 3rd most unchurched state in the US. 95% unchurched friends. Christians are just not on every corner if you know what I mean.) and really wanted it still to be used for ministry. Whoa! They just basically gave us $60,000 and they are praise God for us!?! Just how like God! Oh but wait. I said I would tell you two stories. (And if only I had all night I would tell you many more) Around the same time someone donated an entire 5 building ranch to the ministry. DONATED... as in didn't make us pay for it! But there was a tiny catch. It wasn't up to code and needed some work. About a million dollars worth. Yikes! But guess what God did in 3 months? Yup! He provided $1 million dollars. Our God does stuff like that. He really does. Isn't He just amazing and so fun to watch! And how amazing that just watching Him grows more faith. So really friends, the more you trust God, the more you trust God. And guess what? We are having guests at the ranch this summer and YOU are invited. Check out the opportunities here.
We exist to glorify God, to display His heart and character. And I just love how we are all uniquely built to do that. So every Friday I want to give you, uniquely designed by God, an opportunity to link up your thoughts on God, art, baking, photography, parenting, marriage, homeschooling, writing or blogging and more if they tie into or display the Lord somehow.
Here's how it works. 1. Link up as many blog posts as you want below by clicking the link below and following the prompts. (Perhaps think of old posts you want more exposure to as well as new ones.) 2. Let your readers know by including a link at the bottom of your post (or somewhere on your side bar) or paste my button code (found below and on the side bar). 3. Take a minute to visit and comment on another sweet lady or two's post. You're encouragement might be just what she needs to keep pressing on in being a voice in the darkness.

I simply love God stories like these. We have experienced so many of them as we have surrendered all to serve our King. Provision of vehicles, living quarters, travel expenses to serve.... I miss hearing them from others too. We use to live by a YWAM base and work with the missionaries there. We would sit all evening sharing God stories! Thank you for reminding me those stories are still out there! We are serving in a rather unchurched town just now and your story helps.... a lot! Thank You :-)
