The Lord has been breaking me, chiseling off rough edges and making me more like Him. Before having enough kids for our own small basketball team I thought I understood serving. But as I bundle up five kids and walk with a stroller through a snow storm to school with a bad attitude I am humbled and realize how much I truly have to learn. I want to be like Jesus who served when it was convenient or easy. I see the need to continually remind myself I am here to serve, not to be served. And I see how far I fall short. But as I look to and yield to Him, the Great Servant, I see His grace is sufficient to make me the kind of servant I need to be. And really no matter who I am serving, my kids, my husband, our staff, it's ultimately serving Him. The Great I AM, the Beginning and the End, the Creator, Sustainer and Author and Perfector, the One who matters more than life itself. We exist to glorify God, to display His heart and character. And I just love how we are all uniquely built to do that. So every Friday I want to give you, uniquely designed by God, an opportunity to link up your thoughts on God, art, baking, photography, parenting, marriage, homeschooling, writing or blogging and more if they tie into or display the Lord somehow. Here's how it works. 1. Link up as many blog posts as you want below by clicking the link below and following the prompts. (Perhaps think of old posts you want more exposure to as well as new ones.) 2. Let your readers know by including a link at the bottom of your post (or somewhere on your side bar) or paste my button code (found below and on the side bar). 3. Take a minute to visit and comment on another sweet lady or two's post. You're encouragement might be just what she needs to keep pressing on in being a voice in the darkness. I think this is an area the Lord has been growing me in too right now. As a former healthcare worker turned SAHM, I sometimes feel that I'm "just" serving my husband and kiddos instead of "the world." It's time to slow down and focus at the yoke He gave me and not the one I gave myself.

So well said! And yes, I am totally realizing how it's so easy to think the amount of people we serve makes it more important or valuable. And at least for me, can value the activity more than the process. What I mean is that right now I'm in a season of refinement and faithfulness building and can tend to not see that as valuable. Oh so grateful the Lord encourages along the way.

I've got the 'party of five' over here too and rejoice in the heart transplant that God has performed on me. Through having these children I have been made new; from a person who was very selfish, territorial and possessive to a person that delights in serving. When I got saved the year I had my 1st born, I never knew it would be THROUGH having more children that my transformation would come. May blessing abound to you and your children today.

Your comment about the way our children really teach us the lessons we need to learn about service, humility, etc.. ( my additions because those are lessons I needed to learn over and over). It has been the most significantly eye opening experience being a mother.. especially to teenagers. ;)
