This week my mentor encouraged me to not get comfortable. Comfortable is mediocre. Comfortable is taking the easy way out. Comfortable is settling for less than God's best. Comfortable is focused on pleasing my flesh instead of producing fruit. The Lord challenged us to live alert, to go, and to put feet to our faith. One of his last admonitions to his followers was "Therefore, stay awake, for you do not know on what day your Lord is coming." (Matthew 24:42, ESV) That's why I am so excited that it's almost November. Why is that you ask? Well, while some people are looking forward to putting up the tree and dusting off their Christmas CDs, around here we start November by kicking comfortable right to the curb. If you've grown a little too comfortable like me, we'd like to invite you to join us for our favorite Missional Women November tradition. Join us for #NOTABOUTMENOVEMBERFor the last eight years we've been doing this great little exercise to re-focus and re-center our attention and affection on Jesus. It's called Not About Me November. It's an entire month where we seek God and seek ways we need to make life more about Jesus and less about us. After all, He must become greater and we must become less. Each year it proves to have incredible soul shaping value. The exercise of saying no to our flesh and pointing to Jesus produces beautiful, meaningful fruit. This year as we point to Jesus, we'd love for you to join us. You can share your thoughts on Facebook, twitter or Instagram with the hashtag #NotAboutMeNovember, and we would be honored if you tag @missionalwomen so we can encourage you. If you are a blogger, we'd love for you to write a post on this specific theme. We've created a month-long linkup here. Let's make Jesus known in November. We exist to glorify God, to display His heart and character. And I just love how we are all uniquely built to do that. So every Friday I want to give you, uniquely designed by God, an opportunity to link up your thoughts on God, art, baking, photography, parenting, marriage, homeschooling, writing or blogging and more if they tie into or display the Lord somehow. Here's how it works: 1. Link up as many blog posts as you want below by clicking the link below and following the prompts. (Perhaps think of old posts you want more exposure to as well as new ones.) 2. Let your readers know by including a link at the bottom of your post (or somewhere on your side bar) or paste our button code (found below and on the side bar). 3. Take a minute to visit and comment on another sweet lady or two's post. Your encouragement might be just what she needs to keep pressing on in being a voice in the darkness. About Lyli

#NotAboutMeNovember sounds like a wonderful thing, and I'm wondering how I've missed it in the past. And I just finished reading Free of Me by Sharon Hodde Miller, so my head is already full of thoughts in that vein.

I am not sure how I missed this last year, but this is a wonderful idea. We need reminders like this - #notaboutme - to keep us other-minded. Looking forward to November!
