Come by the home page: Weekday Devotional on Friday for a FREE giveaway of my book.I've heard that my generation will be the first generation to "not have as much" as our parents. My heart cries, "Oh God let it be so!!" But let it be because we are a generation marked by sacrificial giving. That we are a generation so consumed by making Jesus known and using our resources to do so. That we would be a generation no longer idenified by how much we consume or how much or nice our material possessions are. That what we do have would be for God's glory. I hope we are the first generation that has less... way less than those before us because we cared more about the lost world, that we were willing to put our money where our heart is. And I pray that our hearts are about the business of our Father. That our hearts hurt for the things that cause Him to hurt and rejoice in the things that cause Him to rejoice. Oh that we would be a generation who had less because we gave. Reflecting the glory of the King who gave it all for us. Ann Voskamp wrote an inspiring post called When Christmans Gets Radical: Whose Birthday is it Really which told about Christmas in her family. Instead of buying each other presents, they take the money they would have spent and pick out ministries to give the money to, a present to Jesus. Yes! That we would be radical and that our passion for Jesus would effect everything about us... dare I say, even our finances. That we would be willing to live on less for the sake of more knowing Jesus. Thought provoking concept...intentionally living on less because we give more. We need to be able to do this while still knowing the glory of life. We are not meant to hang our heads in perpetual shame, but to grab the life God gave us. But to separate that concept from material abundance...I like that very much. Thank you.
