Ever feel like a quiet time is the last thing you can squish into your schedule? Oh boy, it can be tough sometimes! But there are so many benefits to being in the word especially when things are hectic. And if I may be so bold, it is a lie from the enemy telling you that you can't fit in time with the Lord. Here are just a few ideas to make space for the Lord in your full day. I hope you are encouraged and jealously guard your precious time with Him! 8 Ideas for a Quiet Time without Getting Busier! 1. Use Your Commute Try a recorded Bible or devotional that reads out loud to you in the car. Or if you ride a lightrail or train, you can bring your Bible and journal along. 2. Utilize A Lunch Hour My husband is great at this! He uses John Piper's Solid Joys app every lunch hour--such a wonderful recharge mid-day. 3. Get up earlier Set that alarm even 20 minutes earlier and utilize one of those nifty automatic coffee pot timers. Allure yourself down the stairs with a coffee aroma and into the Word. 4. Stay Up Later Just do the same as above; stay up 20 minutes later curled up with some soothing tea before bed. 5. Use Nap Time Have kiddos? Take advantage of a still house and get yourself in the word while the littles slumber 6. Pray during errands When you're driving between Target and the grocery store, use that time to pray out loud, pour your heart out to God and ask Him questions back 7. Headphones During A Workout If you have a daily workout, you can plug in some headphones for a recorded version of the Bible read to you and a sweet devotional. Workout + Jesus = awesome 8. Set A Schedule What I've found that most helps is if I pencil in any one of these ideas into my planner...and stick to it! I would never cancel on a friend every week for coffee so surely I can keep my appointments with God each day. I hope you find space in your schedule and know you are covered with grace for all the other times. This is such a practical & useful post. I have used each of your suggestions at various times in my life. If we are not intentional about our quiet time, it will not happen. It is a matter of finding what will work for us & then doing it. Great post!
