You’ve been praying. You’re certain that God has impressed you with names of Facebook friends to share the Gospel with. Now what do you do?
For reaching out to your friend, check their history first by visiting their profile. Did they go through some difficulty recently? Ask God to guide you to share what will lift their eyes to Him. Prayerfully decide if you should write to them on their wall or in a Facebook message. On their wall, you can encourage your friend’s friends. If their need is too personal, write them privately. Are you a blogger? You might be seasoned or just starting up, but here is a revitalizing thought for you:
You can share the radical news of Jesus with any page view, visitor, and post! And it's soooo ridiculously easy! Social media is becoming increasingly influential (no surprise there) and our God is up with the times, using it for His glory. Blogging is no exception. If you know anything about the blogosphere, mommy blogs are hot! You already know that moms love to connect and support each other through online communities. Christian bloggers and readers can be more missional in reaching this very large network of moms.
Readers, are you making friends online through the blogs you read? Do you look for opportunities to gently bring spiritual perspective to a topic in your comments? Maybe you prefer to make friendships and then exchange email addresses or phone numbers with a new friend so you can share God’s love and the Gospel one-on-one? Do you have a story about someone you were able to touch for Christ that you can share with us? Every day, over two million people search on the internet for “I need God,” “Who is Jesus,” and other spiritual questions. Through these searches, people find one of Global Media Outreach's 100+ websites every few seconds, indicate some sort of decision for Christ, and ask for follow-up. You can actually “see” this happening across the globe in real-time at Global Media Outreach (GMO). (The counter resets to zero daily at midnight PST.) In seven years, 50 million people have visited GMO websites.
