"The goal of God in history is to uphold and display his glory for the enjoyment of the reedmed from every tribe and tongue and people and nation."
"The goal of missions therefore is the gladness of the peoples in the greatness of God."
I just arrived home from Cambodia. The question could be, "Was it worth it? It's not like you can change things in 10 days." As we were debriefing about the trip we were reflecting on this and the ways God revealed Himself through us, the most important thing, since God's goal is for people to see His greatness. We saw Him reveal Himself as Patient, Long-suffering, Faithful, the Sufficient Provider, Freedom Giver, Joy, Light, Restorer and love. Cambodian parents do not express love in anyway to their children. So when we affirm and hug and play with the kids. It is love they have never experienced. They are getting to experience love. Love that comes from God through us. Yes! God revealed His character, His heart to the people of Cambodia through our willingness and sacrifice to go. Yes, it was worth it! God was glorified, there is nothing greater than that.
Over the past couple weeks have been sharing what the enemy is up to in this forgotten country, but also trying to show how God is powerfully displaying Himself in the midst of the darkness. In my last post, sweet Charlotte asked "What can I do to help?" Thank you Charlotte for having a tender, willing heart. That tenderness and willingness give us a glimpse of God's heart for these little ones.
Here are some options of how you can take action in the face of injustice. And not for you only, with descretion, you can do these things with your kids. If they see you praying and giving and going to the world, they will see it as important. Let God use you to give a heart for the world to your kids. How beautiful would it be to raise Radical kids, who wont be trained to live the American Dream.
You can sign up to weekly prayer requests and sign up to get Don's newsletter once a month. Both will let you know what to pray for regularly.
There is a movie coming out which features Don and Bridget. Don says it is the best movie he has ever seen on the subject of child sex trafficking. It paints a clear picture but not without hope. Why not get a group together to go see it?
You can give online to Agape International Missions.
You can be a voice for these little girls. If you contact Don and tell him you would like to raise awareness at your church, he will send you a packet of info to help you do that.
Don is very gracious in letting teams (no larger than 14) come and serve. He helps with the details of where to stay and helps set up a van for your team and put your to work according to your unique giftings.
Why not take a team on a short term trip? You can help teach the kids, teaching in a classroom or putting on a kids club.
You can help in the medical clinic. This would be super helpful! In Cambodia, if you have seen something done you are an expert. We had 3 girls work in the clinic. 2 of them are college students and are just interested in the medical field. But even the little amount they do know was useful.
You can teach computer classes.
