Did you know there are more people alive today than there ever has been... combined! That is a lot of people. That is a lot of people groups. Our mission given to us by Jesus is to Go (take the initative) in the power of the Holy Spirit and make disciples (who will make disciples). Daunting. You and I can not fly over and get to every people group on the planet to share the gospel and build them into a multiplying disciple in our lifetime. But that is what Jesus called us to. Sobering. Good thing He gave us His strategy and His Spirit-the only One able. To be about sharing the gospel and helping them grow into a multiplying disciple, someone who will be about the mission. (For more about how our mission is different than our purpose, check out the Life on Purpose tab.)
I am always struck by the realization that we actually can't do even that. The Holy Spirit, not us is the One who convicts of sin, teaches, brings growth, empowers, gives direction, understanding and motivation (among a hundred other things). Yet, we are still called to do it. Wow! Talk about being called to the impossible. Talk about sticking your next out there. If God doesn't show up there is 100% chance of failure. What a beautiful place to be!
Having discipled over 150 girls and using many different discipleship materials I have seen a few areas that could be improved to build Christians about the mission so I have come up with something that I would like to experiment with. (Not that I have it all figured out, but just making my contribution.) It is created to have a lot of discussion about God's Word but also has the end goal of the person living on purpose for the glory of God and the mission He's given them. It's called Thrive, and is in trial as we speak.
If you disciple people and would like to experiment with it and give me your feedback of how it went I would gladly accept that. I do ask that you wouldn't save this to your computer since it is not the completed copy. After I get feedback and make some changes I will make the final copy available to use.
I am again amazed that God takes our scattered seeds and does so much with them! That He takes our feeble efforts and causes them to multiply beyond our imaginations. We serve an incredible God! Worthy, worthy, worthy!
